UNIT 9 MOD PACK

The mod pack is the collected assets created and used within a game, or in this case my level. Having finally created, textured(skinned and coloured), and baked(permanently applied changes) my assets i was now ready to position them within the game space itself.

Maya allows you to create any object from a basic polygon, cube, sphere, pyramid, etc. After that you can resize or rotate it. Allowing you to manipulate it’s surface into any shape desired. Bending, stretching, squashing, and extruding are all available. If that is not enough you can even combine two or more shapes to attain your goal. The sky is only the first limit with a program such as this.

With this in mind I chose to keep it simple and take it easy, as this was my first project. I could not fritter away valuable time upon the creation of some objects. I needed to populate an entire spaceship.

Here is an example of one of my assets in game. A bookshelf with a key on its shelf, illuminated by a lamp, set off by a trigger box i had overlapped it with.

The next picture is of all the assets I created and used in my level. From walls to books, lockers and boxes. This is a small example of how much you must plan forward in creating a game. All your assets(objects) must first be created in a program like Maya. So understanding the tools required is a must but only as much as your planning.

After placing them in my level the game began to take on a feeling of something real rather than the empty space it had been. Here are some pictures of the finished article.
